Working with parent volunteers, The Classical Academy provides an engaging learning experience for all students in kindergarten through eighth grade. “Art in Action” is an interactive multi-media art education program based on the lives and works of well-known master artists. Students are introduced to a famous artist and learn of their history and their particular art technique. Five to seven artists are introduced each year and students learn about their lives and practice creating their own masterpiece by using the same or similar skill.
Music instruction is provided in grades K-8. In class, students experience opportunities for vocal, instrumental, and rhythmic expressions. The music program explores basic music skills and concepts. Students in 5th grade begin instrumental instruction on the recorder, with an emphasis on reading music and performance skills.
All students are invited to participate in the award-winning choir program which meets on Mondays throughout the school year. There are three choirs: primary, intermediate, and advanced. The Classical Academy Choir performs multiple times throughout the school year.
In-depth instruction for band instruments is available for students in grades 4-8 in the after school band program. Numerous performance opportunities are provided throughout the year.
