Art classes at Coastal Academy are designed to build a strong foundation in the Visual Arts, as well as inspire and encourage children in various media. Students in grades kindergarten through eight study various artists, art history, art movements, and learn about and how to incorporate the elements and principles of design into works of art. Projects are aligned with California State Visual Arts Standards and provide students with a well-rounded and thorough experience in the Visual Arts. Projects begin with an introduction to a particular artist, technique, and/or art movement. Each student will explore the elements and principles of design pertinent to the project, learn art terms, discuss works of art, and will have studio time to create masterpieces.
Music is provided for students in grades K-8. Students experience many different kinds of opportunities through music from around the world. Glee Club style singing and with choreography is taught along with basic music reading.
