Student Named Ambassador for Nordson SEMI High Tech University

Classical Academy High School (CAHS) freshman, Raj Pabari, was given the opportunity to participate in SEMI High Tech University (HTU), an internationally acclaimed career exploration program. The three-day intensive workshop included hands-on, educational sessions, a BattleBots style competition, and critical thinking and engineering design challenges. Raj was awarded a scholarship and named the Nordson SEMI HTU Ambassador for his leadership and technology aptitude. He will represent both Nordson and the SEMI Foundation at future events. Young Entrepreneur Club Places in Stock Market Challenge

Congratulations to the Young Entrepreneur Club for finishing second at the Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge, held at
Qualcomm Headquarters, in early March. The Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge is high tech simulated stock trading competition.  The teams begin with $500,000 in fictitious funds and interact with on-site traders to buy and sell shares of stocks, with the goal of building the highest-net-worth portfolio.  Teams must think on their feet as they make real-trades in real-time while filtering through the changing news and stock tips.  The participants included: Raj Pabari, Hayne Lim, Rachel Johanson, Jessica Johanson, Delaware Wade, Jett Palmer, Benjamin Lee, and Julian Ruiz.

CAHS Teacher Receives Inspiration Award

Congratulations to CAHS Teacher Morgan Lundy, winner of the
Escondido City Council Inspiration Award.  Morgan was honored at the
California Center for the Arts this morning as part of the mayor’s
“State of the City” address to the community.

Morgan was awarded for many reasons but in particular for his leadership
around the “Signs of Hope” service project.  Each semester his wood shop
students deliver handmade inspirational signs of hope to the residents
with intellectual disabilities at Mountain Shadows.

Congratulations, Morgan. You continue to do great things for students and our community!

Save the Date for Super STEM Saturday!

Super STEM Saturday is an annual event that welcomes thousands of families to the CSUSM campus to discover science, re-imagine technology, create engineering, and explore math.  Save the date for this free event on Saturday March 9, 2019 from 10:00 am-4:00 pm.

Build and launch a rocket, play Frisbee with a robot, or become a DNA detective.  This free event is open to the public and children of all ages are invited to attend.  Super STEM Saturday closes the ten-day San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering, the largest celebration of innovation and science education in Southern California.

Held in partnership by The Classical Academies and CSUSM, Super STEM Saturday has grown into a popular North County event that draws 12,000 science enthusiasts each year. For more information visit: Super STEM Saturday
