Robotics

CAHS Robotics Club (a.k.a. Team 3021: “The Agency”):

The CAHS Robotics Club consists of a cadre of students who are dedicated to establishing and enhancing their skill sets and knowledge bases in the realm of industrial robotics. An Advisor and several mentors work side-by-side with the students to guide their efforts to complete real-world projects that apply the use of robotics to actual problems and issues which cobots (collaborative robots) can address. CAHS has invested significant resources in this endeavor, including a Universal Robots (https://www.universal-robots.com/) robotic arm. The team has proven this cobot’s capability to perform such tasks as making a grilled-cheese sandwich (2021-2022). These endeavors involve the rigorous engagement of each team member in the many “moving parts” of the product design process. The members themselves agree on a project, then design, build, program, refine a working sequence and then make presentations of the fulfillment of the demands of the project over the course of the school year.  The CAHS Robotics Club is also known (for historical reasons) as “Team 3021: The Agency” and is open to any CAHS students interested in participating and willing to contribute their time and effort. Skills acquired during the year include computer-aided design, programming, 3D printing, machining, wiring, grant-writing, and team logistics. Currently, the Robotics Club meets at the CAHS campus on Monday afternoons/evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 pm during the school year (subject to change).

Engineering Courses (Introductory and Advanced):

In addition to this after-school program, CAHS also offers introductory Engineering (CAD/Fusion) and Advanced Engineering (Coding/Java) electives courses on campus. These two courses are open to all students, with no prerequisites or prior knowledge required. The natural order for students may be to begin with the Introductory course, but it is not a requirement for taking the Advanced course. (Either may be taken first.)
