Student Activities

Sports

Classical Academy Middle School has an after-school sports program for 7th and 8th-grade students.  Depending on student interest and parent-volunteer coaches, sports change about every eight weeks. Practice and games are held once a week and include volleyball, flag football, soccer, basketball, cross-country, track, and field. Sporting teams compete with other schools in the Escondido Small School’s League.

Student Leadership

ASB (Associated Student Body) students are leaders on campus and in the community. They are positive role models and put leadership skills into action, initiate positive changes, and promote community on campus. ASB meets after school most Thursdays from 3:15 pm – 4:45 pm.

Field Trips

Students attending Classical Academy Middle School have the opportunity to take enriching, educational, overnight class trips to Catalina Island and the East Coast. While attending CAMS, students also have the opportunity to participate in all-school field trips throughout the year. Past trips have included: Medieval Times, The Museum of Tolerance, California Science Center, and Riley’s Farm.

Choir

Students are invited to participate in a vocal ensemble, which meets throughout the school year. The ensemble performs in the community multiple times throughout the school year.

Band

Intermediate band is offered to middle school students who have an understanding of basic music reading, instrument assembly and maintenance, correct playing position and sound tone production. Instruction offers continued focus on the refinement of tone quality, technique, aural skills, and music literacy. Advanced band is also offered for students with advanced music reading and musicianship skills. Performance opportunities for both groups are provided throughout the year.

Musical Theater

The Classical Academy is well known for its Musical Theater program. Full stage productions are held in the fall and spring at The California Center for the Arts in Escondido. Over 60 students in grades 6-8 act, sing, and dance as they bring their best to the stage. Past productions have included Alice in Wonderland, Aladdin, Annie, Willy Wonka, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, and The Lion King.

Dance Team
