Classical Academy High School partners with parents to prepare students for “College, Career, and Citizenship.” Students have the flexibility to choose a program that best fits their learning style. Rigorous academic courses, including college prep (A-G) and Advanced Placement (AP), are taught by California credentialed teachers. Extracurricular activities such as field trips, sports, clubs, music, theater, robotics, and more are available.
Studio- Escondido (CAHS) -4 days on campus
The Studio Program is designed to serve students who would like to attend classes in a classroom setting four days per week (Tuesday through Friday), which are taught by credentialed studio teachers. Studio teachers use lectures, small group interactions, labs, field trips, and projects to deliver an engaging and rigorous curriculum. Students in this program agree to exhibit respectful conduct and academic responsibility, including the timely completion of quality work and daily attendance. All core classes except for math and Advanced Placement (AP) are taught in an accelerated format of 18 weeks.
Online- Escondido (ECC) or Oceanside (OCC*) -optional 4 days on campus
Classical Academy Online is a program offered for grades 9-12. This hybrid online and workshop program incorporates the best of The Classical Academies independent study program and award winning online curriculum. Through a partnership with teachers, students, and parents, online students have access to college prep (A-G) and advanced placement (AP) curriculum in a virtual environment, as well as the option for twice a week workshops. Students have direct access to subject-area credentialed teachers in the Cyber Cafe Tuesday-Friday.
5-Day Independent Study- Escondido (ECC) or Oceanside (OCC*)
The 5-Day IS Program provides the additional flexibility for students and families. Families may choose from several options, which include choosing their own curriculum, choosing online courses, working with outside co-ops or vendors, and/or taking community college courses. All coursework must meet or exceed the California State Standards. Credentialed educational specialists help to guide each family and are familiar with how each course choice aligns with the school’s educational standards. Students will have contact with the Educational Specialist (ES) every 3 weeks (or at the discretion of the ES) to review and assess student progress towards learning objectives. Students and parents will conference with the ES a minimum of 5 times per year – at the start of the school year and at the end of every quarter.
*The Oceanside Cyber Café (OCC) will eventually become the new Coastal Academy High School. This change could happen by the fall of 2017-18. At this time, the plan is to offer the Online and 5-Day Independent Study options in Oceanside for the 2017-18 school year, and to look at adding additional program options for 2018-2019.
