Program Options

What Do We Offer?

The Classical Academies seek to personalize the learning for each and every student. This is accomplished through the partnership that parents share with credentialed teachers and the academic programming we offer students. Each of our campuses offers a variety of flexible programs, including traditional in-seat, independent study, and a blend or hybrid of these programs. The following flexible options are available:

Transitional Kindergarten: Pre-kindergarten program

The Transitional Kindergarten program is for students who missed the September 1st deadline for Kindergarten.  The program offers curriculum geared towards preparing students for Kindergarten. Students have the option of attending class on campus one half-day a week.

Tracks A & B: Two-days on campus and three-days of independent study

Students attend class on campus in a traditional setting two-days per week and study at home under the supervision of a parent or guardian the remaining three-days per week. California credentialed teachers work closely with parents to make sure each student succeeds. Students on Track A attend class on campus on Tuesday/Thursday and students on Track B attend class on campus Wednesday/Friday.

At the Vista campus, Track A is on Tuesday/Wednesday and Track B is on Thursday/Friday. There are optional labs on Mondays as well.

Track C: Five-day independent study

Parents are assigned a credentialed teacher who works alongside them in selecting curriculum and resources for students in grades K-8. Teachers are available to answer questions, provide support, and act as a guide on the side to ensure that parents and students succeed.

Students in grades 7 and 8 attend class in a traditional school setting three-days per week and study independently two-days per week. Credentialed teachers work with students in core subject areas Tuesday- Thursday. Mondays and Fridays are home days where students complete assignments, projects, and work at their own pace.

Flex Track: Multi-grade Combination Class (3-5 and 6-8)

Combination class where students have the flexibility to work within their individual academic levels and interests while pursuing mastery of state standards within an integrated, project based learning environment. Using a 3-year, chronological study of history as the backbone for learning, students conduct multidisciplinary, real-world investigations that incorporate reading, writing, research, technology, math and science. Parents partner at home by guiding discovery, actively discussing history/literature topics, and sharpening math fundamentals through teacher created lessons. In class, students work together to take their knowledge to deeper levels of application, evaluation and synthesis via simulations, group activities/discussions, blogging, and other engaging projects.

During the school day, students are taught in all core subjects including Humanities, Science and Math. There are four unique elements to the Summit Learning Program: personalized learning time, project time, mentorship, and community time. Students work independently at home two-days per week under the supervision of a parent or guardian.

High School Options

Classical Academy partners with parents to prepare students for “College, Career, and Citizenship.” Students have the flexibility to choose a program that best fits their learning style.

Four-days per week on campus and one-day of independent study

Students attend class in a traditional classroom setting four days per week (Tuesday – Friday) in an accelerated classroom environment. Studio teachers use lectures, small group interactions, labs, field trips, and projects to deliver an engaging and rigorous curriculum. Students in this program agree to exhibit respectful conduct and academic responsibility, including the timely completion of quality work and daily attendance.

Personalized Learning Campus

A rigorous, engaging environment will be maintained with the options for three-day workshops, intentional student collaboration time, projects/labs and self directed learning time. Students at the Personalized Learning Campus have the most flexibility in blending classroom time and independent study options with college prep coursework.

Five-days – full- time independent study with teacher support

The 5-Day Independent Study Program provides additional flexibility for students and families. Families may choose from several options, including selecting their own curriculum, selecting  courses, working with outside co-ops or vendors, and/or taking community college courses. All students will have direct access to subject-area credentialed teachers on campus in Escondido or Oceanside.
