Alethia Tolentino Ranked 15th in State for Girls' Wrestling

September 10, 2024

Coastal Academy High School (CAH) sophomore Alethia Tolentino has placed 15th in the 105-pound weight class by CalGrappler.com. Last year, Tolentino was the runner-up at both the CIF Divisional Championships and the CIF Sectional Championships, and she made history by qualifying for the CIF State Championship as a freshman, marking a significant milestone for CAH Wrestling.

Reflecting on her recent ranking, Tolentino expressed her surprise and gratitude, saying, "I never thought I could get this far in wrestling. It wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my coaches and team.” She has been dedicating herself to rigorous off-season training in preparation.

Girls' wrestling, sanctioned by the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) in 1998, is rapidly gaining popularity in the state, with over 8,000 girls competing across 14 weight classes last year.
