CAHS Junior Named National Advocate for Free Speech

Classical Academy High School (CAHS) junior Bryce McCague has been selected as a 2024-2025 Student Advocate for Speech by the National Coalition Against Censorship (NCAC). As a representative, McCague collaborates with political leaders, business executives, and academic figures to promote First Amendment rights and tackle censorship issues. McCague has contributed book reviews for the New York Public Library's Banned Books Awareness campaign and is working on a personal narrative short story. His advocacy includes writing statements and testimony in Congress and working with the National English Teacher Association on free speech initiatives related to teens' First Amendment rights. Beyond advocacy, McCague is active at CAHS as a member of the Caiman Corps Marching Band & Drumline, Vice President of the Board Game Club, and a National Honor Society member. He is completing his Eagle Scout project. He is also involved with the national "Break The Tape" campaign to raise awareness of censorship, especially in literature, during Banned Book Week, September 22-27, 2024.
