D. Kalani Stone, a senior at Classical Academy High School, has achieved the esteemed rank of Chief Petty Officer (CPO) in the United States Navy Sea Cadet Corps. Earning the rank of CPO is a rare accomplishment, with less than 1% of Sea Cadets reaching this distinction. The achievement requires significant dedication, including time in rate, rigorous coursework, and specialized training. Throughout his tenure as a Sea Cadet, Kalani has been recognized for his outstanding performance, earning 12 ribbons and 18 appurtenances, including the prestigious Citation Ribbon for Cadet of the Year. His commitment and leadership exemplify the core values of the Sea Cadet Corps and set a high standard for future cadets. The United States Navy Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) is a youth leadership development program sponsored by the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard. It provides hands-on training in seamanship, aviation, engineering, and leadership for young people ages 10 to 18. Sea Cadets follow a structured rank system and participate in drills, coursework, and specialized training alongside active-duty personnel. The program helps instill discipline, teamwork, and a sense of service, often preparing cadets for military careers or leadership roles in civilian life. Achieving higher ranks, such as Chief Petty Officer (CPO), is a significant accomplishment that requires years of dedication, coursework, and training.
