It sounds easy, and really, it is all about today! This pandemic has disrupted our busy and planned American lives. What you scheduled
and calendared is now on hold, and for some of us, that is unnerving to be out of control. Here are three simple things you can do to keep your focus so that you can work on balancing your perspective and allow yourself to find personal success today.1. Journal a few thoughts each morning to record how you are feeling and include a few points on the plans you have for the day. Do this before the children get up and celebrate the fact you have been given a new day. Mistakes yesterday are gone and you get a chance to achieve personal success today!
2. Make one thing your focus to achieve today and make it a priority. Yes, you have a lot going on and that has the chance to bring your frustration with lots of loose ends still hanging undone each day. So shift to, “Today I will plan, purchase, and prepare that special meal for my family.” Or “Today I will start and complete three chapters in that book I have been wanting to read.” It’s the little things we can do for ourselves daily that can make a difference.3. At the dinner table each night, have your family members give one example of what they are grateful for today. This is a
great reflection point for you as the parent/guardian to know that success was found, and sometimes, we hear things we didn’t even know had happened when our children share. These are points of light that remind us that even without a formal plan, success happened today in your household and in your family.Cameron Curry is the Chief Executive Officer for The Classical Academies, an organization of award-winning, tuition-free, public charter schools serving 4600+ students in grades TK-12 in North San Diego County.
